3x3 Cube
The 3x3 is the most popular cube in the world. It's a great starting point for beginners and a challenge for experienced cubers.
The goal is to align all the colors on each face of the cube. Although it looks simple, figuring it out on your own is extremely difficult.
Since it is the original puzzle created by Erno Rubik in 1974, it is the main event of the sport.
2x2 Cube
The 2x2 is a smaller version of the 3x3 cube. It's a much shorter event, and times at the top level are typically below 2 seconds.
Although it is a simpler puzzle, it still requires advanced solving techniques and algorithms to achieve fast times.
You generally want to plan as far ahead as possible during your inspection phase, since the lack of pieces makes it easier to predict the solution.
4x4 Cube
The 4x4 is a larger version of the 3x3 cube. It's quite a bit longer, and times at the top level are usually around the 20-30 second mark.

Despite its unique appearance, it's a very easy puzzle to learn and solve.
